Abstract

Human-centered design (HCD) is an approach that prioritizes the needs, experiences, and perspectives of users throughout the design process. This methodology, which places empathy at its core, fosters innovation by ensuring that products and services are intuitive, accessible, and resonate with the people they are designed for. The article explores the fundamental principles of HCD, including the stages of empathizing, defining, ideating, prototyping, and testing. It highlights the crucial role of empathy in understanding user needs, behaviors, and emotions, and how this understanding drives effective problem-solving. Additionally, the article discusses the benefits of HCD, such as increased user satisfaction and market relevance, while also addressing the challenges, including resource intensity and balancing diverse user needs. Through this exploration, the article demonstrates how human-centered design can lead to more meaningful, inclusive, and sustainable solutions.
