Remote sensing technology has emerged as a powerful tool in highway and transportation engineering by providing accurate, efficient, and cost-effective solutions for infrastructure planning, monitoring, maintenance, and management. The integration of satellite imagery, aerial photography, LiDAR, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) has significantly improved transportation planning and decision-making processes. This study examines the applications of remote sensing technology in highway alignment planning, traffic monitoring, pavement management, environmental assessment, disaster management, and smart transportation systems. The research also evaluates the advantages, challenges, and future prospects of remote sensing in transportation engineering. The findings indicate that remote sensing technologies improve data accuracy, reduce project costs, enhance safety, and support sustainable transportation infrastructure development. The study concludes that advanced remote sensing applications will play a critical role in the modernization and resilience of future transportation systems.
