The construction industry is one of the most hazardous sectors, with workers facing a wide range of risks that threaten their safety and well-being. In addition to human factors, such as lack of training or miscommunication, the reliability of the materials and processes used in construction significantly influences the safety and durability of the built environment. Structural failures, accidents, and long-term sustainability of buildings are major concerns that need to be addressed. This review examines the critical safety and reliability issues in construction, focusing on the various hazards encountered on construction sites, human and organizational factors that contribute to accidents, and strategies for mitigating risks. Furthermore, it discusses advancements in technology, such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), robotics, drones, and wearable safety devices, which have proven to be instrumental in enhancing both safety and reliability. The article also emphasizes the importance of robust regulatory frameworks, quality assurance, and continuous safety training in mitigating construction risks. The paper concludes with recommendations for improving construction safety and reliability through technological integration, stronger regulatory enforcement, and the development of a safety-conscious culture across the industry.
