Adjustment of Adaptive Difficulty in Video Games using Artificial Intelligence

Adaptive difficulty in video games is basically a kind of Dynamic difficulty adjustment (DDA) is a technique for automatically altering game features, behaviours, and scenarios in real-time based on the player’s competence so that the player does not get bored or angry when the game is very easy or challenging. The DDA aims to keep the player engaged and give him or her a demanding experience all the way through the game. The complexity of conventional games rises linearly or progressively as the game progresses. Only at the start of the game may features like frequency, starting levels, or rates be modified by selecting a difficulty level. However, as users attempt to map a predetermined learning curve, this may have a negative effect on their experience. DDA makes an effort to address this issue by offering gamers a unique option. The existing DDA techniques are reviewed in this paper.
